Trump Hails Chancellor Olaf Scholz Election Defeat As Great Day For Germany

After a conservative opposition leader named Friedrich Merz declared victory in an election, US President Donald Trump praised Sunday as a “great day for Germany.”
According to exit polls from the German election, the far-right AfD made significant gains, but leader Merz’s center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party emerged victorious.
According to public broadcaster ZDF, the CDU/CSU combination was expected to take the lead with 28.5% of the vote, followed by the AfD with 20%, which would be the far-right party’s highest-ever result in polls that was keenly watched throughout Europe and the US.
According to the prediction, the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), led by incumbent chancellor Olaf Scholz, received just 16.5% of the vote, its lowest-ever total.
