Coronavirus: Africa Free As Suspected Egyptian Case Tests Negative
Africa has been declared to be free of Coronavirus, after the first suspected case in Egypt tested negative for the deadly virus.
The Egyptian Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) made a joint statement on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020, barely forty eight (48) hours after a Chinese national was admitted to a specially-designated hospital for isolation following an announcement as Egypt’s first confirmed case of Coronavirus on February 14th.
Health Ministry of Egypt’s spokesperson, Khaled Megahed, told newsmen that a medical team has been conducting periodic checks and analysis on the foreigner. The PCR analysis was conducted six (6) times for three (3) consecutive days under the supervision of the Health Ministry and the WHO, and each time the tests showed negative.
Furthermore, Megahed revealed that the Chinese national would remain quarantined for the next fourteen (14) days.
