Coronavirus: Benin Republic Records First Case

Republic of Benin, on Monday, March 16th, 2020 recorded its first confirmed case of coronavirus, as the continent trying to halt the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The country’s health minister, Benjamin Hounkpatin, announced that a man who arrived the West African country from neighbouring Burkina Faso had tested positive, probably as a result of his recent visit to Belgium.
The confirmation in Benin came at a time when various countries in sub-Saharan Africa have begun imposing entry restrictions or banning public gatherings and closing schools.
