Google Doodle Honours Late Amaka Igwe On 57th Birthday
Google has honoured late iconic Nollywood filmmaker, Amaka Igwe, with a Doodle on her 57th posthumous birthday.
A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the Google’s homepage logo, with the intention to commemorate achievements, events, holidays, events and notable historical figures.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Igwe’s Doodle went live on Thursday, to honour her contributions to Nollywood.
Igwe was a broadcasting executive and Nigerian filmmaker. She was the owner of Amaka Igwe Studios and Top Radio 90.9 Lagos.
She was among the second-generation filmmakers who helped shape the video film movement of Nigerian cinema. And she remained prominent in the film industry until her 2014 death.
Igwe hit national prominence as the writer and producer of award-winning TV soap “Checkmate” and its offshoot ‘Fuji House of Commotion’.
Her Nollywood productions include “Rattle snake” and “Violated”, which placed Amaka Igwe Studios in a class of its own in the Video film era of Nigerian cinema.
