Arsenal Celebrate 21 Years Of Signing Nigerian Football Legend, Kanu Nwankwo
On Wednesday, 11th January, 2020, English Premier League club, Arsenal celebrated the two-time CAF African Player of the Year, Kanu Nwankwo, for having a glamorous career with the London club.
It was exactly 21 years on Wednesday when Kanu was signed by Arsenal from Serie A giants, Inter Milan.
The Gunners marked the signing by accompanying a tweet on the club’s Twitter handle with a video of Kanu’s best five goals scored at the club.
On the Gunner’s official Twitter handle, their statement read, “On this day 21 years ago… we signed the one and only Kanu!”
On January 15, 1999, former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, signed the former Super Eagles captain for £4m, after struggling for first team jersey at Inter Milan.
Kanu made 119 appearances for Arsenal and scored 44 goals, and in 2004, he departed for West Bromwich Albion.
During his time at Arsenal, the 43-year-old soccer hero won two (2) Premier League titles, two (2) FA Cup titles and one (1) FA Community Shield.
