FC IfeanyiUbah

The players of Heartland, FC IfeanyiUbah and Sunshine Stars are being owed outstanding salaries by their Nigerian Professional Football League clubs.

A Heartland defender, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that they were owed outstanding salaries for December 2019, March and April 2020 respectively.

Players and coaches are owed three months salaries and it’s becoming frustrating now with the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown,

the footballer said.

I don’t know how we are going to survive this critical period.

A member of Heartland’ management team admitted that the players and coaches were owed salaries, but added that efforts were being made to pay them.

It’s true they are owed salaries but there are plans to pay these players before next week,

our source said.

Flavision also gathered that Sunshine Stars and IfeanyiUbah players were owed three months salaries as well.

I have not recieved payment for two months now,

a defender who joined Sunshine Stars at the start of the season told The PUNCH on condition of anonymity.

I don’t know how they want us to cope and stay fit for the restart of the league?

Players of Sunshine Stars had their January salary slashed, contrary to their contract agreement and are yet to receive their March and April salaries.

However, Chairman, Ondo State Football Agency, Tajudeen Akinyemi, assured that the players would receive their salary in the coming days.

They just have to be patient. The banks are operational now, so the process will be a lot faster now. They will get their salaries.
