Orji Uzor Kalu Visits Venezuelan President in Caracas
The former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu visited the embattled Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, on Monday. Currently a senator-elect in Abia State, Orji met the president at the Presidential Palace (Miraflores), Caracas.
Globovision, a 24-hour television news network in Venezuela, reported that Orji discussed with Maduro about the need to keep strengthening relations between Nigeria and the South American country. Both countries are members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries(OPEC).
The report further stated that they also discussed matters of mutual interest in the oil and gas sector, as well as the present alliances via the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries to strengthen the Diplomacy of Peace with Africa in particular and the peoples of the world at large.
All present at the meeting were the executive vice president of Venezuala, Delcy Rodríguez, Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores and the deputy minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel.
Some unconfirmed reports said Orji sealed some deals for his Slok Holding, a conglomerate with interests in oil trading, banking and shipping.
