Police Rescue Dumped Newborn Baby In Ekiti
The police in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, in the evening on Monday, April 27th, 2020 rescued a newborn baby from an uncompleted building at the Goshen Avenue, Adebayo axis of the city, where it was dumped by the mother.
The Ekiti State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu, said residents of the community reported the incident of a dumped newborn baby to police, and that police officers were immediately detailed to the scene.
Abutu said,
We got a call from that a newborn baby was abandoned in an uncompleted building in Adebayo. We have recovered the baby and we immediately moved it to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. The baby is now undergoing some treatment and care.
He said the police were currently making efforts to track the abandoned baby’s mother.
A source in the area said that cries of the baby attracted residents to the uncompleted building.
She said,
The baby, with its umbilical cord still in place, was discovered in an uncompleted building around Goshen Avenue, in the Adebayo area of the town at about 10pm on Monday.
