Soldier Fighting Boko Haram Kills Four Colleagues, Injures 2 Others
A Nigerian Army corporal fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast of the country has shot dead four of his colleagues and injured two others.
The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, said in a statement that the unnamed army officer also shot himself in the early hours of Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 during the shock incident which happened at the Army Super Camp 15, located in Malam Fatori, Borno State.
According to him, the two wounded soldiers were immediately taken to a military hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.
He said the army has launched an investigation into the matter.
He said,
A corporal of the army serving at the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole, Army Super Camp 15, located at Malam Fatori went berserk in the early hours of Wednesday and opened fire, killing four of his colleagues before shooting himself.
Two of his colleagues were also injured during the incident and are in stable conditions in our hospital in Maiduguri. Efforts are on to contact the families of our gallant colleagues who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
