Kidnappers Collected Over N50m Before My Release – Bauchi Gov’s Brother
Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, the senior brother of the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has revealed that his family paid N50m ransom to his kidnappers before they set him free.
Mohammed was abducted at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, March 25th, 2020, in Ungwan Jaki in the Bauchi metropolis by four heavily-armed men.
He was released from captivity on Monday, April 20th, 2020.
During a press briefing at his house in Bauchi on Tuesday, April 21st, Mohammed said his abductors initially demanded for N350m, but after a bargain, they agreed to take N50m.
The retired Deputy Comptroller of Customs said,
They said they have not kidnapped somebody as big as l am. They demanded N350m. I told them l don’t have that money.
We gave them the ransom but it was not up to N100m. It was about N50m. As an old man, why should l even lie and l can afford N50m. I don’t need it (money) from Bauchi State Government. I can afford it.
He clarified that his family single-handedly paid the entire sum of money, without a single Kobo coming from the the Bauchi State Government.
