I won’t Leave Abandoned Projects For My Successor, Lalong Promises

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has assured the state that he will complete all the projects he has initiated before leaving office in 2023, adding that he will not abandon any project for his successor.

Lalong gave the assurance in Jos, the state capital, during an interaction session with journalists in the state.

He said:

Today we are using the new Government House; I didn’t start the project but I completed it and the Plateau people are using it. We have so far completed some abandoned projects, and we are going to complete more of them because I hate to hear about abandoned projects.

Lalong said his administration has constructed 22 roads across the state in addition to ‘Lalong Legacy projects’ that are spread across the state, which according to him, focus on education and healthcare infrastructural development.

He added, however, that the ‘Legacy Projects’, which was initially supposed to gulp N50 billion, will now be trimmed to N30 billion due to obvious economic challenges.

The governor said while the ‘Lalong Legacy Project’ phase one focuses on education and health sectors, other sectors would be given attention in terms of infrastructural development.

Lalong also said his administration is seeking support to ensure that the famous Terminus market that was burnt in 2001 is rebuilt.

He revealed that the Jos airport has been approved as an international cargo airport, a development he said would further boost his administration resolve to harness the agricultural potential of the state, adding that the airport will facilitate the process of the farmers’ produce reaching their market.

The governor further said in line with his economic diversification efforts, his government is considering solid minerals and tourism where the state has comparative advantages.
