Boko Haram Kill Eight Soldiers And Wound Five In An Ambush In Borno
The Boko Haram insurgents have ambushed and killed eight (8) Nigerian soldiers, who were part of a military patrol team in Borno State on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
The terrorists also wounded five (5) soldiers and two still unaccounted for, at the time of this publication. The soldiers of the 156 Task Force Battalion were ambushed at about 1:00 p.m. in Mainok, about 60 kilometres west of the state capital, Maiduguri.
Lt Nura Yusuf Maiadua from Katsina State has been identified as one of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Boko Haram ambush.
Premium Times reports that a Boko Haram fighter was killed in the encounter, while soldiers recovered an assault rifle from the assailants. Nigerian Army have recovered the bodies of their fallen colleagues and the wounded ones were promptly rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
A report reaching Flavision stated that following the attack, three anti-aircraft equipment and two gun trucks could not be accounted for. However, it is not yet clear whether they were temporarily misplaced during exchange of fire or carted away by the insurgents.
