Video: Anambra State Governor Sympathizes With Victims Of Onitsha Tanker Fire
The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has extended his heart-felt sympathy to the family of a woman and her child who perished in a tanker fire accident in Onitsha. The town is the state’s main commercial city.
The tanker had earlier had a road accident at the Ochanja market, the second biggest market in Onitsha. It spilled the fuel it was conveying, which subsequently caused the fire outbreak.
Reacting to the fire outbreak, Obiano directed the property owners who were affected by the tragic accident, including shop owners, to report on Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at the Conference Room of the Secretary to the Anambra State Government.
He stated that the meeting would enable the state government to understand how best to assist them to recover from the unforseen tragedy.
Gov. Obiano, who spoke in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, said that a special panel of inquiry would be set up without delay to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Adinuba also said the panel would find out why the firemen were unable to quell the fire and how the victims’ condition can be made better.
Obiano prayed for the eternal rest of the souls of the woman and her child who lost their lives in the accident. He further said that the Anambra State Government would assist their families in their funerals.
