Fire Destroys Nine Shops, Goods In Lagos
Nine shops were burnt down by fire outbreak on Tuesday, April 14th, 2020 on the Peace Estate, located off the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State.
According to Punch Metro, the inferno, which erupted from one of the nineteen shops in a row, quickly spread to eight other shops and razed goods worth millions of Naira.
Flavision learnt that firefighters from the Lagos State Fire Service arrived on time and helped to stop the fire outbreak from spreading to the remaining, adjoining shops.
The affected shops sold electrical cables and electronics.
Our sources said that the fire, which started at about 4.32 am, was finally extinguished by the personnel of the Federal Fire Service and the Lagos State Fire Service.
The Head of Public Affairs Unit, Lagos State Fire Service, Jamiu Dosunmu, said in a statement that the cause of the fire incident was yet to be ascertained.
Nine out of the 19 shops were severely burnt, while the firemen were able to save 10 with property worth millions of naira amidst the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic,
he stated.
The acting Head of the Lagos State Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, said the agency had responded to eighty four (84) fire incidents, since March 23rd, 2020. She added that the agency would do everything necessary to ensure that the state was safe.
Adeseye advised Lagos residents to follow the guidelines of health experts, to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.
