President Buhari To Address Nigerians Today
President Muhammadu Buhari will hold a press conference to address Nigerians at 7:00 pm (WAT) on Monday, April 13th, 2020 (today).
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, made this known in a statement.
Though the statement gave no hint on what the President would be speaking on, Flavision learnt that it may not be unconnected with the coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
Following the increasing cases of the virus, the retired general had ordered a shutdown of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun State since March 31.
On Saturday, Buhari urged Nigerians to stay at home and to wash their hands to help save lives, but gave no indication of whether the official confinement period would be extended past Monday.
The statement issued on Monday read,
President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation Monday, April 13th, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.
As of 09:10 pm on April 12, 323 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria.
Of the 323 cases, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said 85 patients have been discharged while 10 died.
