Sowore’s Re-arrest: Reps Order Immediate Investigation of Invasion of Court By DSS
The Federal House of Representatives on Tuesday called for an investigation into the invasion of a Federal High Court in Abuja by some operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS. The lower legislative chamber directed its relevant committees to investigate the alleged DSS invasion of the court.
Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu brought up the matter to the House during plenary. He stated that the incident was an abuse of the court sanctity.
The lawmaker described action of the DSS as “one arm of government attempting to overpower another, which will spell doom for the country’s democracy.”
Remember that last Friday, some operatives of the DSS reportedly chased out lawyers from an Abuja Federal High Courtroom, attacked journalists before proceeding to re-arrest Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the RevolutionNow Movement.
The DSS has since denied that its operatives invaded the courtroom.
The DSS’ spokesman, Mr. Peter Afunanya, made a counter accusation that the activist’s supporters had acted an “orchestrated drama” inside the court.
Afunanya had claimed that none of the operatives of the DSS was involved in the incidents that happened in the courtroom.
