Media Trust, Police, Customs, 62 Others Get Radio, TV Licences
The Federal Government has granted licences to the publishers of Trust titles, Media Trust Limited; the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigeria Police to commence the operation of radio stations in Nigeria.
Armed with this licence, Media Trust, which commenced a high-quality newspaper business in 1998, can now diversify into radio broadcasting from its headquarters in Abuja.
Apart from Media Trust, the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Police, and sixty two (62) other government agencies and companies that included the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, eight (8) tertiary institutions and two (2) newspapers were also granted television and radio licences.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) released a statement on Sunday, March 8th, 2020 saying the licences were granted consequent upon the approval by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The NBC urged the successful government institutions and companies to collect their letters of grant of provisional operating licences from the commission, starting from Monday, March 9th, 2020.
