Lockdown: Lagos Joggers Bag 14-Day Quarantine
The Lagos State Government has arraigned thirty four (34) people arrested for gathering to exercise on the Gbagada-Oworonshoki Expressway amid the Federal Government’s 14-day lockdown of the state to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The thirty four (34) residents were dragged before the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, where they were arraigned on one count of violating government’s social distancing directive.
Photos of the joggers, who gathered in large numbers on the highway to work out, had surfaced on the social media on Tuesday, April 7th, 2020.
They all pleaded guilty to the charge against them and were each sentenced to one month of community service.
The court also ordered that they should be quarantined for fourteen (14) days at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Yaba, or any other isolation centre designated by the government.
