Funke Akindele in court for violating COVID-19 lockdown order

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, has on Tuesday, April 7th, 2020, commended the Lagos State Police Command for the role it played in the prosecution and conviction of notable violators of the lockdown order by President Muhammadu Buhari.

This may have been related to a house party hosted by Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello (JJC Skillz), at their Lagos residence on Saturday, April 4th, 2020, with over twenty (20) attendees.

The couple were, on Monday, April 6th, 2020, sentenced to 14-day community service plus fine of N100,000.00 each, for defying the COVID-19 lockdown order.

Similarly, the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2019 governorship election, Babatunde Gbadamosi, and his wife, who were among those that attended the party, turned himself in at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba on Monday, April 6th, and were subsequently detained.

Earlier, singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, who also were among the guests at the party, reported at the SCIID and was detained.

The Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha, who spoke during a live press conference of the task force in Lagos, said no one was above the law.

Mustapha, in his own words, said,

Reports have been received of the general level of satisfactory compliance in Lagos with the lockdown order and we have similarly received reports of violations.

In this case, I commend the governor of Lagos State with his institutions for the instant action of the government by prosecuting and convicting notable violators, which shows that nobody is above the law.
