Alleged Assault: Court Summons Oluwo Of Iwo To Appear
A magistrates’ court in Osogbo, Osun State on Friday, March 6th, 2020 ordered the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, to appear in court over an alleged assault.
While dispensing his ruling in an exparte application, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered the police to notify traditional ruler before a date could be fixed for hearing of the allegation.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr. Soji Oyetayo, requested the court for an order on motion exparte so as to file an application against the controversial Oluwo of Iwoland.
It was alleged that the Oluwo attacked and punched another monarch, Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo during a peace meeting on February 14th, 2020. That meeting was called to settle a land dispute in Iwoland between the monarchs.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Mr. Bashir Makama, convened that peace meeting in his Office where the assault allegedly took place.
