Police Council Presided By Buhari Confirms Baba As IG
- Buhari directs him to reduce insecurity to barest minimum
The Nigeria Police Council (NPC), at its meeting on Friday, confirmed the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, as a substantive Inspector General (IG).
The council, at the meeting presided over by its Chairman, President Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed Baba’s appointment less than two months after his appointment as IG in acting capacity.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, who confirmed the development at the end of the one and a half hours meeting, to newsmen said Baba was unanimously confirmed by all members of the council.
According to him, the president has directed the new IG to ensure that the insecurity challenge facing the nation is fought with vigour and brought to the barest minimum under his watch as IG.
President Buhari had on April 6, named Usman Baba, a Deputy Inspector General, as the Acting IG.
