Edo State First Lady Visits Family Of Late Uwaila Omozuwa
The untimely death of the promising 100-Level UniBen microbiology student, Uwaila Omozuwa, a student of uniben has thrown the entire country into mourning.
The atmosphere in her family was one of overwhelming grief and uncontrollable tears.
Officials of the Edo State Government led by the First Lady, visited the family of the late uwa to commiserate with them.
It was a moment of grief for the late lady’s father. He recounted how his daughter was full of hopes and aspirations. He stated that her love for education and success, made her to put in extra work in her studies. According to him, she always reads her books, and it is her love for reading that eventually led to her untimely death.
He further stated that his daughter was a virgin who was preserving herself for marriage. At this point he became emotional, and was consoled by the first lady.
The gruesome rape and murder of the 22 year old Uwa, has raised a huge debate about the rise of insecurity in the country. Several celebrities and politicians have spoken out against violence against women.
On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari commiserated with the families, and ordered the police to leave no stone unturned, in fishing out her killers.
But the the confidence the people have in the security forces, and also in government, is shrinking heavily. Citizens as well as security experts are calling for the police to be modernized. Police should invest in forensic evidence analysis, so as to effectively arrest and prosecute criminal elements in the society.
