Funmi Iyanda, MC Oluomo, 2Baba Have Sit Down On Public Eye
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a man as misunderstood as Mr. Musuliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NUTRW) in Lagos state? In his position as chairman, MC Oluomo has been accused of everything, from fostering a culture of thuggery in Lagos roads to manipulating elections in favour of whatever political party he aligns himself with.
There have been very few platforms that have successful engaged the man and sought to dispel the fact from myth around his person. Who better to do this than Funmi Iyanda, the woman who revolutionized day time talk in the 90’s and is back to do it again with Public Eye NG.
Ms. Iyanda hosted the first daytime talk sit down with Akinsanya, as part of her new talk show, also hosting the music legend and activist, 2Baba Idibia on Friday, May 15th, 2020, via Instagram Live.
Public Eye, while announcing the live broadcast on Instagram, captioned it:
Come with sense and talk realness with @funmiiyanda and tomorrow’s brand new guests @mcoluomo and @official2baba! Turn on notifications, tune in tonight, and DM #publiceye your questions so you can watch them answered live! Don’t skip the gist, see you tomorrow!
Mc Oluomo’s NURTW has been part of the return to normalcy for Lagos state as it recalibrates after 7 weeks of curfew to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. Mr. Akinsanya will break down the struggles of the ordinary people, particularly essential workers in the transport sector as Nigeria tries to find solution to the COVID-19 pandemic and how the road transport industry is adapting to face current realities.
Songwriter, record producer and social activist, 2Baba brings the authentic and uncensored honesty he is known for to the programme. 2Face has always tempered his face with activism, lending his platform whenever possible towards projects that protect citizen rights and hold the government accountable. He is also very quick to acknowledge his privileges, a trait that makes him the perfect guests to spar with Ms. Iyanda on the levelling power of the Coronavirus and how the rich and famous are adapting during the coronavirus lockdown, and the effect on the entertainment industry.
Supported by McArthur Foundation, Public Eye is broadcast on Instagram Live every Friday at 8pm.
Past guests on the programme include Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Tolu Ogunlesi; spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Frank Mba, and US-based Nigerian family nurse, Regina Askia.
