Lagos Government Threatens To Sanction Party Organiser For Sharing Petrol As Souvenir

Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Government has said that it has started investigations into the actions of a party organiser, who shared gallons of petrol as souvenirs at an event in the state.

A video, which circulated on the social media, showed that attendees were given gallons of petrol with stickers “Erelu Okin Foundation Installation Party”.

The state government promised to ensure that all parties account for the act.

In a statement by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos Government noted that such action was dangerous and could lead to loss of lives and property.

The statement reads,

The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to a video showing kegs of petrol being handed out as souvenirs at an event centre in Lagos. The video has gone viral on social media.

There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property. It is blatantly against all safety measures in such places.

The Lagos State Government, through the safety commission, is investigating this matter and will ensure that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it.

He added that the safety of lives and property of Lagosians and visitors remained a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, urging all residents to avoid actions that can lead to loss of lives and property in the state.

The safety of lives and property of Lagosians and visitors remains a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore, advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and property be avoided,

Omotoso counselled.

Meanwhile, the party organiser, Erelu Okin, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, has apologised for sharing fuel as a souvenir at her installation ceremony.

She wrote on Instagram,

I want to use this medium to apologise for the momentary indiscretion of bringing fuel souvenirs into the hall.

My intent was just to show appreciation to my guests for turning up at my event at these hard times.
