Coronavirus: Nigeria Records First Case Of The Deadly Disease
Nigeria has just recorded her first case of the deadly Coronavirus. This makes the country the first in Sub-Saharan Africa to contract the virus.
The disease was imported into Nigeria, when an Italian national travelled from Milan to Lagos on Wednesday, and was tested positive following a medical examination. The Italian patient was immediately quarantined and health officials are on a mission to trace, quarantine and examine everybody who may have come in close contact with him, prior to his diagnosis.
Many medical experts say that Nigeria is not well-equipped and prepared to properly contain a Coronavirus outbreak in the country. On the other hand, others trust the country’s medical emergency response approach, with the hindsight of how Nigeria was lauded for its quick containment of Ebola virus a few years ago.
