Coronavirus: FG Advises All Abuja, Lagos Residents To Stay At Home
The Federal Government, on Monday, March 23rd, 2020, has advised all residents of Abuja and Lagos, the two cities with the highest coronavirus cases, to stay at home, “until further advice is given”.
The Presidency said this via its official Twitter handle, @NGRPresident:
vii.All Abuja and Lagos residents are strongly advised to stay at home, avoid mass congregation of any kind as well as non-essential outings, until further advice is given.

As of Monday, March 23rd, 2020, Nigeria has recorded thirty six (36) confirmed cases of the COVID-19 disease, but two of those infected had recovered and had been discharged. Lagos State has recorded twenty five (25) confirmed cases, while Abuja has recorded six (6 cases. One death has so far been recorded in Nigeria.
Lagos is the country’s economic capital and Abuja is its administrative and political centre. The measure to lock down two of Nigeria’s most important cities came after President Muhammadu Buhari was criticised for not providing the leadership to Nigeria in time of crisis like coronavirus pandemic.
The Presidency admonished everyone in the country to respect the “advisory and measures put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
