Coronavirus: Senate Suspends Public Hearing, Closes Gallery
The Nigeria Senate on Thursday, March 19th, 2020 announced the partial closure of its activities to members of the general public, in a move to curb Coronavirus outbreak in the National Assembly complex.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, made the disclosure at plenary, after a one-hour closed session.
Lawan said all forms of excursion of students and public hearing on the Senate had been suspended, until further notice.
In addition to that, the Senate President announced that its gallery, where journalists and members of the public usually converge to observe plenary proceedings, had also been closed.
