Coronavirus: Niger Shuts Schools, Bans Gatherings
The Niger State Government has ordered the closure of public and private schools, as well as tertiary institutions within the state from Monday, March 23rd, 2020.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 19th, 2020 by the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ahmed Matane, the government declared the suspension of all public gatherings by the state government.
Matane said,
The closure of the public, private schools, and tertiary institutions is for the period of 30 days, including the suspension of all public gathering.
The decision to shut down the schools for 30 days and suspend public gatherings is part of government’s deliberate efforts to contain the global spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
The secretary urged the people of the State to always maintain the highest level of personal hygiene, adhere strictly to all the safety measures previously announced by the Niger State Ministry of Health and remain calm.
