Toyin Abraham: I’m Not NCDC’s Brand Ambassador, I Didn’t Replace Anyone
Nollywood actress and movie producer, Toyin Abraham, has refuted claims that she is now the brand ambassador for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday, April 16th, 2020 the NCDC shared a viral video on Twitter of the actress sensitising the public on the importance of simple hygiene and other necessary safety tips to avoid contracting coronavirus disease.
There were numerous rumours afterwards on social media that the agency had unveiled the movie star as its ambassador.
The reports also claimed that Abraham had replaced Funke Akindele, despite the NCDC’s recent recent rebuttal that Akindele was never its brand ambassador.
But reacting to the speculations on Friday (today), Abraham clarified that the video was only a way of showing her support for the Federal Government’s battle against COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
It has just being brought to my attention that blogs are reporting that I am now NCDC ambassador. Implying that I have been used to replace a senior colleague,
the statement read.
That line of thought necessitate I put this out there. I am not an ambassador to NCDC. I do not like the narrative that I am trying to take advantage of a bad situation.
Please I support the campaign against Covid-19, I appeared on a video campaign against the pandemic but please let’s not drag anyone down. Thank you.
