Coronavirus: Enugu Discharges Second Patient
Enugu State Ministry of Health said that the state is now free of coronavirus, after discharging the second patient isolation, following successful treatment.
With this, Enugu State has discharged two COVID-19 patients in less than twenty four (24) hours.
Recall that four weeks ago, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced two coronavirus index cases in the state.
On Wednesday, April 15th, 2020, one of the two cases was discharged, after testing negative to the deadly virus twice.
The two index cases are a couple who had returned from the United Kingdom and isolated in their house, where they subsequently received care, after testing positive to the virus.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ikechukwu Obi, in a statement released on Thursday, April 16th, disclosed that Enugu State has no coronavirus case, shortly after the second index case tested negative to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) for the second time.
He said,
Two of them are now negative for the coronavirus and have been discharged.
We encourage our people to continue to stay at home, try not to touch your face without having washed your hands, maintain strict hand and respiratory hygiene, wear a facemask in line with the NCDC’s advisory and maintain physical distancing.
