37-Year-Old Coronavirus Patient Gives Birth At LUTH
A 37-year-old woman diagnosed with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has given birth to a baby boy at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi-Araba, Lagos.
The hospital disclosed this via a press statement on Tuesday, May 12th, 2020.
According to the statement, the coronavirus (COVID-19) patient was delivered of the baby boy on Saturday, May 9th, 2020.
The statement, however, did not state if the newborn baby tested positive for the COVID-19.
The statement read,
A team of LUTH doctors, anaesthetists and nurses delivered another woman diagnosed with COVID-19 of a baby boy (Birth weight: 2.6kg).
The 37-year-old mother was delivered of the baby via a caesarean section on Saturday, May 9.
The mother and baby are doing well.

This childbirth comes amid rising coronavirus cases in Lagos State.
As of Monday, May 11th, 2020 the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that Lagos had recorded 1,933 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), out of which 1,398 are active cases. The state has also recorded 502 recoveries and 33 deaths.
LUTH had, on Monday, April 27th, 2020, successfully delivered a 40-year-old coronavirus (COVID-19) patient of a baby girl.
