Five Nigerians Test Positive for Coronavirus In China
Seven persons, including five Nigerians, have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China, after eating at the same restaurant, sparking fears of a new wave of outbreak, as the country struggles to recover from the global pandemic.
That development was brought to light when Chinese authorities in the southern city of Guangzhou began to investigate a possible series of community transmission of COVID-19.
The Daily Mail Online reported that four of the cases had recently visited the same restaurant called Emma Food, several times.
The Guangzhou Health Commission revealed that the owner of the restaurant, her daughter and another child later tested positive for the deadly disease.
Recall that the coronavirus epidemic broke out in China, after scores of people suffering ‘mysterious viral pneumonia’ were linked to the same seafood market in the city of Wuhan.
Guangzhou is located 1,028 kilometres (638 miles) south of the former epicentre, Wuhan.
Flavision gathered that Yuexiu District, where the restaurant is located, has ordered strict measures, as a response to the new cluster of coronavirus infections.
The new COVID-19 cases have triggered an alarm in Guangzhou, which has so far reported 466 coronavirus cases.
Chinese authorities have shut down the Emma Food restaurant for inspection and in a similar fashion, other restaurants in the district have similarly been ordered to close for 14 days.
