Lagos State, on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 recorded its lowest confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in three weeks, Flavision reports.

According to data obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the state recorded 66 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

A further breakdown of the data showed that this is the lowest cases recorded by the state in 24 days.

The state recorded 58 cases on May 14, data obtained from the NCDC showed.

Flavision reports that Lagos State has recorded no fewer than 3,630 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) between the 24 days interval.

At present, the novel coronavirus has killed at least 67 people since the outbreak first emerged in the state in February.

At least 5,729 cases of coronavirus have been registered in the state. Of these, at least 944 are now considered recovered.

The state has recorded 1.17 per cent fatality rate till date.

Earlier, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said testing capacity is being ramped up, noting that the state now has the capacity to perform 1000 tests per day.

He noted that the state is working at raising the capacity to 2,000 or 3,000 per day so that everybody who needs testing or wishes to be tested can get tested.

If you look at our data, we have performed over 22,000 tests in Lagos so far. We are increasing our capacity to carry out more tests every day.

Very soon, the rate at which we are testing will keep rising and don’t be alarmed because the more we test, the more cases we’ll find,

he said.

Announcing the recent cases of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, NCDC said, “On the 6th of June 2020, 389 new confirmed cases and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

Till date, 12233 cases have been confirmed, 3826 cases have been discharged and 342 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 389 new cases are reported from 23 states- Lagos(66), FCT (50), Delta(32), Oyo(31), Borno (26), Rivers(24), Edo (23), Ebonyi(23), Anambra(17), Gombe(17), Nasarawa(14), Imo(12), Kano (12), Sokoto(12), Jigawa (8), Ogun(7), Bauchi (5), Kebbi (2), Kaduna(2), Katsina(2), Ondo(2), Abia(1), Niger(1).
