#EndSARS: “To Our Nigerian Sisters And Brothers, We Stand With You” – Beyoncé
Renowned international singer, Beyonce, has lent her voice to the ongoing #EndSARS protests against police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria.
Apart from sympathizing with the #EndSARS protesters, she has also offered material support to youth organizations involved in the struggle.
In Nigeria, the masses have risen up to demand accountability, good governance and a permanent end to police brutality. But on Tuesday, October 20th, 2020, the protests took an ugly turn, when soldiers opened fire on peaceful protesters.
If you visit Beyonce’s website’s homepage, https://www.beyonce.com, you will be greeted with the following text, which covers a large portion of the page:
I am heartbroken to see the senseless brutality taking place in Nigeria. There has to be an end to SARS.
We have been working on partnerships with youth organizations to support those protesting for change. We are collaborating with coalitions to provide emergency healthcare, food and shelter.
To our Nigerian sisters and brothers, we stand with you.
She has also shared the text on social media.
