Nigerian Therapist Says She Loves Burna Boy’s Diligence But Didn’t Want him To Win Grammy Award
In the just concluded 2020 Grammy Awards, Beninese singer-songwriter, Angelique Kidjo, on Sunday, January 26, 2020, beat Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Nathalie Joachim, Altin Gün, Spektral Quartet, and other singers to take home the coveted prize in the World Best Music Album category.
A Nigerian Twitter user named Oyinkansola Alabi, a therapist and conflict resolution specialist, said that even though she likes Burna Boy’s diligence, she however, did not want him to win the Grammy Award, because she was “scared of his attitude towards fame and money.”
Alabi tweeted:
1) Even though I love his diligence, I really didn’t want him to win. I thought the Grammy award would ruin him. I was scared of his attitude towards fame and money.
I, however, think that his real award is the global recognition and the fact that he contested with a legend.
One of the people that commented, Jefe De Strategist, said:
To know I’m not the only one with this thought is soothing. I was so scared what he would become as a Grammy winner.
