Police Arrest Teacher For Beating Student (Video)
Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a teacher, Mr. Chuks Igbani, for allegedly flogging a female pupil in a brutal way in the Igborosun area of Badagry on February 29th, 2020.
A video clip of the incident went viral on social media that shows Igbani aggressively flogging the pupil with a cane and pushing her against some furniture.
The Viral Trends tweeted, while sharing the video:
Teacher captured flogging a student over her inability to “read properly” yesterday in Lagos.
The lesson teacher identified as Chuks was seen beating up the 15-year old student at Igborosun in Badagry.
The student can be heard saying she wanted to die, as the teacher told her to die while beating her.
At a point in the video, the girl agreed to read, but the teacher continued brutalising her.
Some Nigerian Twitter users called for the teacher to be arrested and demanded that the school be shutdown.

Oh my God. This brought me so much pain. I have a daughter who is smart but always slow academically and dont get good grades. I have accepted her like that and supported her, she is now in JSS2 and we are moving.
To see a teacher do this to that child breaks my heart.

The teacher should just cool off in the prison for three months first before any trial starts. The little girl was even saying that she would read; that man is a beast and a monster.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said the teacher was nabbed on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 and would be charged to court.
The man was arrested by policemen from the Badagry division and he is in custody,
he added.
However, the Ministry of Education’s Public Affairs Officer, Kayode Abayomi, said a team had been sent by the government to investigate the crime.
He said,
The Ministry of Education has sent some staff to investigate it. The place is an unregistered centre, but the ministry still awaits the report of the team to know the next line of action. But one thing I am certain about is that once the centre is not approved by the state government, it will be closed down.
