Three Ekiti Teachers Arrested For Allegedly Raping Pupils
On Wednesday, February 26th, 2020, police officers in Ekiti State arrested three secondary school teachers for allegedly having sexually molested some of their female students.
The Ekiti State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said that the suspects already being detained at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti. Two secondary schools where the teachers worked are the All Souls’ Grammar School in Ado Ekiti and Osi Grammar School, Osi Ekiti, in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area.
Abutu stated that the teachers were reported to the police via a petition received from a source that the suspects were having carnal knowledge of the victims, who are moinors.
The police spokesperson said,
The suspects, who were alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the pupils, one from the Osi Grammar School and two from the All Souls’ Grammar School, are in our custody and they are giving us useful information.
We have invited the victims to give useful information to us. But as of now, the victim from the Osi Grammar School denied the allegation while being interrogated.
But, we are not resting on that; we will get to the root of the matter.
Abutu told journalists that the police had already invited the victims from the All Souls’ Grammar School for interrogation, adding that they had yet to provide any information on the matter.
