Policeman, 5 Others Arrested Over Kidnapping In Cross River
A serving police officer and five other gang members who were allegedly behind several kidnappings in Calabar, the Cross River capital, have been arrested by soldiers of the Operation Skolombo.
Our Operation Skolombo source, who wants to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak with media, told our reporter that upon intelligence reports in the early morning hours of Monday, February 24th, 2020, the soldiers arrested the policeman and his other gang members.
The source revealed that the policeman, who reports claim owns landed properties in Calabar was being detained in the outskirts of Calabar at the Eburutu army barrack and that he would be paraded before news reporters, immediately after concluding investigation. He confirmed that the soldiers were also able to release the kidnap victim, Mr. Maurice Archibong, the accountant of the state owned Nigerian Chronicle newspaper, who had been in captivity for about a week.
Flavision also gathered that another kidnap victim, Chief Desmond Oko, a businessman, was also set free by the soldiers.
However, police spokesperson in Cross River State, Irene Igbo, said the command did not have any knowledge of the arrest of the policeman.
