30 Nabbed For Adamawa Deadly Communal Clash
Operatives from the Adamawa State Police Command said it has arrested 30 persons for their suspected involvement in deadly clashes at Tingno, where over 30 people were feared killed.
The state government on Sunday night imposed a 24 hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area where the communal clashes triggered by an argument over pork between some Hausa Fulani youths and their Chobo-speaking neighbours turned violent that claimed lives and rendered hundreds homeless.
The Adamawa Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adesanya, on Monday, May 18th, 2020 in a statement signed by DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects were arrested with dane guns, swords, and cutlasses.
The statement read,
The Command sees the 24 hour curfew imposed on Lamurde Local Government by the state government as a measure to contain the escalation of the crises across the local government area.
The command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, will commence the full enforcement of the directives effective from today, Monday, 18th May, 2020.
The commissioner appealed to members of the general public to respectfully abide by the orders, warning that security had been deployed to support the area commander and DPO to enforce the government directives.
