Three Fake Soldiers Arrested In Ogun State

Policemen from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three who were allegedly faking as real soldiers in Agbado area of the state.

The suspects identified as Jacob Onebi aged 36; Olabode Oluwaseun aged 35 and Olanrewaju Adebayo aged 33 were reported to have been monitored by the police, after receiving numerous complaints from members of the public about the suspects’ illegal activities in the axis.

The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Sunday, March 15th, 2020 said the trio were nabbed while wearing military camouflage in Agbado area of Ogun State.

Oyeyemi told journalists that the DPO of Agbado division, SP Kuranga Yero, had led a routine patrol in the area and upon seeing the suspects, the DPO and his officers accosted them and demanded proper identification from them.

The suspects claimed initially to be officers of 174 Battalion Ikorodu, but on further investigation, two amongst them confessed to have been dismissed from the Nigerian Army long time ago while the third happened to be their friend who was co-opted into their nefarious activities,

the statement said.

Oyeyemi added that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered that the suspects be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
