We’re Prepared for the Threat of ISWAP, Southwest Governors Warn Terrorist Organization

South West state governors

South West state governors have stated that they are prepared to take on the northern fundamentalist organization, ISWAP, if and when necessary.

Following their meeting yesterday in Lagos, they announced that they had decided to create a combined surveillance monitoring team to supervise and coordinate security activities throughout the area, as well as to designate special advisors on security in each state.

In order to promote interstate cooperation and reduce food inflation, the meeting also decided to establish the Food Inflation Joint Monitoring Team.

The six governors of the Southwest convened at Lagos House in Ikeja to address important zonal issues, including the region’s development and progress.

The meeting was attended by Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebaniji (Ekiti), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun). It was hosted by their Chairman and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Government secretary, Barr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and the chief of staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, welcomed Makinde, who arrived just after 10 a.m.

Beginning at 12:15 p.m., the closed-door discussion covered common interests and important regional concerns, such as the South-West Development Commission, agriculture, food security, economic cooperation, and security.

After four hours of deliberation on important issues impacting the South West and the nation as a whole, the forum reached far-reaching resolutions, according to Sanwo-Olu, who read the communiqué following the meeting.

Speaking about regional security, the forum praises the South West Governor for preserving a semblance of tranquility and security in the area, especially during the most recent holiday season.

As a result, the forum urges all states to keep encouraging peaceful coexistence among their inhabitants.

The forum vehemently denounced any challenges to the security of the region, acknowledging the dangers posed by ISWAP operations in certain areas of the South West.
