Newborn baby girl thrown out from the first floor of a female hostel of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko

A newborn baby girl was spotted on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 dangling on a barbed wire fence in Oko town in Orumba North Local Government Area (L.G.A.) of Anambra State.

Our reporters learnt that the fragile baby was thrown out from the first floor of a female hostel of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

The baby’s mother, who receiving treatment, as of press time, at a specialist hospital in the area could not be identified.

Flavision gathered that, with the help of a boyfriend, the mother was delivered of the baby.

A medical officer at the hospital, Chinonso Nwosu, where neighbours took the baby to, while confirming the incident said that the baby sustained a leg wound and was responding to treatment.

Nwosu said,

The mother ran away after the incident, but was later arrested. She is currently breastfeeding the baby after she was brought to the hospital in handcuffs.

The polytechnic, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu, said that the institution was yet to find out if the suspect and her accomplices were the school’s students.

He said, “The authorities heard about the incident like every other person. Besides, the incident happened in a private hostel, outside the school where the authorities are not in control of students’ actions.”

The Anambra State Police Command’s Spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, said,

We are aware of the incident and we’re investigating.
