South Sudan Vice President, Wife Test Positive For Coronavirus
South Sudan’s Vice President, Riek Machar, and his wife, Angelina Teny, who serves as the Minister of Defence, have tested positive for Coronavirus disease.
The office of the Vice President made this confirmation in a statement released on Monday, May 18th, 2020. It also disclosed that
a number of his office staff and bodyguards
had also tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) contagion.
Machar who also confirmed this on a state television, said he would be on self-isolation for 14 days at his residence, alongside the rest of his staff who tested positive for the disease.
South Sudan has so far recorded a total of 347 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with six fatalities.
