Anambra Community Opposes Petition Against Buhari’s FCC Nominee

Oba town in Idemili South Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State has condemned those protesting against the Federal Government’s nominee for the Federal Character Commission, Rev. Uche Ibeabuchi.
Some individuals in the twon had accused Ibeabuchi of land grabbing and high-handedness, petitioning the Senate not to confirm his nomination.
But the President-General of Oba Patriotic Union, Clifford Enendu, at a press briefing on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 dismissed the claims, arguing his accusers were being sponsored by a certain politician.
Enendu said,
We heard that some people filed a petition against one of our sons, Rev Uche Ibeabuchi. I want to state it categorically that Oba as a community is behind our son, Ibeabuchi.
As I heard, they even signed on my behalf and also on behalf of my secretary general in the said petition. That is impersonation. Oba as a community is in support of his nomination and we are fully in support of him and grateful to Mr President for honouring our son.
He made a vow to sue the petitioners for signing the petition on his behalf, without his permission.
The Legal Adviser to Okuzu-Oba Development Union, Azubuike Okeke, also condemned the petition against Ibeabuchi.
He said,
A certain man in our community thought that having money means having influence; that he can dictate whatever that happens to the village without anybody asking a question.
