Zamfara State Government has declared wanted a man, identified as Jamilu Shinkafi, who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but later vanished.

Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Kanoma, said that the suspect absconded after he was confirmed positive for coronavirus, adding that the state has intensified efforts to track him down and subsequently quarantine and treat him.

We are still searching for him. He was in Abuja yesterday and today he left for Kaduna. We will surely arrest him.

We even informed the Federal Ministry of Health about this sad development and Insha Allah, we are going to track him and arrest him,

he said.

Kanoma also said that the state government has instructed that Jamilu’s house, as well as the entire area be disinfected.

He appealed to the people of the state who had recent contact with the suspect to report immediately to the isolation centre for COVID-19 testing.
