Police Arrest Funke Akindele For Hosting House Party Amid COVID-19 Lockdown
The Lagos State Police Command announced that its officers have arrested Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, for hosting a house party, in defiance of the Federal Government’s lockdown order, to curb the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.
Akindele on Saturday, April 4th, 2020 hosted a birthday party for her husband in their apartment, which resulted to a public outcry on social media. A video of the house party went viral and people wanted to know why someone who was supposed to be a role model was breaking the law.
However, Akindele, who had since apologized via her twitter handle, @funkeakindele, was the topic of criticism on social media (Twitter and Instagram) on Sunday, April 5th, 2020, after videos of the birthday party that also included Naira Marley and Eniola Badmus went viral.
