Coronavirus: Areas With Highest Cases In Lagos

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has revealed the list of areas in the state with the highest numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases.

The health commissioner said that Eti-Osa Local Government Area tops the list with forty seven (47) coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, followed by Ikeja with twenty four (24) cases and thirdly Lagos Mainland with fourteen (14) cases.

He made the statistics known while updating residents of the state on coronavirus (COVID-19) situation on Friday, April 3rd, 2020.

He stated that Lagos State has recorded ninety eight (98) confirmed cases of the dreaded virus in six local government areas.

However, he said twenty four (24) patients have been discharged from isolation centres, which brings the number of active cases in the state down to seventy four (74).

Coronavirus cases by age

Prof. Abayomi said that majority of the patients are between thirty (30) and fifty nine (59) years old. He went on to say that only three patients are between sixty (60) and seventy (70) years old currently being treated.

Gender distribution

The commissioner stated that sixty four (64) per cent of the patients are males and thirty six (36) per cent are females.

He said that sixty eight (68) per cent of the cases recorded in Lagos were imported into the state in the first four weeks of confirming the index case (Italian national).

91 per cent of confirmed #COVID-19 cases in Lagos are Nigerians, nine per cent are foreigners,

he added.
