Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Alleged Terrorism Trial Indefinitely

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu

The trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been postponed indefinitely by Federal High Court Judge Binta Nyako in Abuja.

The reason for Monday’s adjournment was Kanu’s assertion that Justice Nyako, who had already recused herself from the case, could not try him any further.

Since his re-arrest and return to Nigeria for a trial on allegations of terrorism in June 2021, Kanu has been under the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

After the IPOB leader passed a vote of no confidence, Justice Nyako declined to hear the case further during the most recent court sessions in September of last year.
